I, Merrin Stacey completed a BA in Fashion Design at  RMIT in 1991 and since then  worked in women’s fashion as Designer/Patternmaker for various Melbourne Designers including Aurelie, Marti, and a 7 year stint at Teena Varigos. During this time I also established my own label designing corsetry, selling through Venuss Envy, Phantazeum & Siren Doll in Melbourne, and Miss Gladys Sym Choon in Adelaide.

After the birth of my daughter Arabella in 2006, and moving with my family back to South Australia, I was inspired to establish Merrin Stacey Design “Kiddie Couture”. I strongly believe that to be a good childrenswear designer you must have children to understand their needs and expectations, to understand the practicalities of childrens fashion, and to create a stylish edge. The label has since been selling through a mail order range book and regular showings. This provides a direct relationship between the customer and designer built on trust and honesty.

Being a stay at home Mum as well as having a need to be creative provides many challenges regarding time management, but is also a great reason to establish a small business with flexible hours close to home - a challenge which many of you will appreciate. I feel that offering “Kiddie Couture” for sale over the internet is especially important and accessible for busy Mums.
